A Broadband DSL Connection won’t tie up your phone

In a nutshell, a broadband DSL internet connection uses the available space on the phone line to transmit high-speed digital signals while still allowing you to use the lower portion of the bandwidth for voice data transmissions. That means you can be on the internet, and talk on the phone at the same time. And the advantage doesn’t stop there: the nature of broadband DSL is that it is “always on,” which is one of the main reasons it is so popular.

The “always on” connection allows you to simply open your browser and beginning surfing the web. With a dial up modem, you can’t use your telephone to make a call at the same time you’re on the internet, and quite often you have to wait minutes or hours to dial in to the busy server during peak hours. Broadband DSL has an exclusive gateway technology that allows full high speed internet access 24 hours a day, with no waiting.

In a customer satisfaction study done by J.D. Powers and Associates in 2003, Earthlink ranked highest in customer satisfaction among users who purchase access through Internet Service Providers (ISPs). The Atlanta-based company has consistently offered world class service and customer support for over ten years, and top service in high speed broadband DSL since its debut in the past few years.

Verizon is a cheap DSL internet service provider for residential users charging a monthly set fee, and the company has made great progress attracting small business users as well. For businesses, the rates for broadband DSL have proven to be lower compared to the “pay per minute” charge of a ISDN service, or installing and maintaining an expensive dedicated T1 line.
