Move up to Broadband Service

Need another reason to move up to broadband service? The built-in security tools provided by your computer’s operating system are not adequate protection against malicious or destructive attacks by spyware and other wormy viruses and applications. As a result, many broadband service provides are including software tools to their account holders to make web surfing more enjoyable and hassle-free.

ISPs are enticing new customers to sign up with lots of free tools and bonus features including: “Pop Up Blockers” to block most pop-up ads, a spam blocker tool to eliminate virtually all junk email, personal web pages, and multiple email accounts. Larger broadband service providers are able to provide extended hours for customer service as well.

Some smaller broadband service providers offer a limited time for your online browsing so be sure to check if the plan is restricted to a set number of hours per month, or if the plan is unlimited. Even though the best high speed DSL internet access enables you to download data files 40 times faster than a dial up modem, you’re still likely to run out of plan minutes before you run out of month. And you don’t want to be shut off from the internet because your neighborhood DSL service provider doesn’t allow you to buy more time.

Keep that in mind when choosing between broadband service plans. Some of the largest ISPs, like Verizon and EarthLink DSL, offer unlimited hours. And because there are no call charges (even though your computer is using the telephone jack and line) your home computer can be connected live to the internet, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
