You may have seen ads that offer cheap dish TV, or free satellite TV, or you may have thought about pirating a satellite signal yourself. If you have considered working with a pirate company you need to know that all they do is program an access card to enable you to get all channels, while you pay for the equipment and setup yourself. But then you will discover that cheap dish TV isn’t what you thought it was. When the two major providers, Direct TV and Dishnetwork, advertise “free digital satellite TV” they are referring to the initial setup and equipment. You still pay a monthly fee and if you add on more channels, or use the pay-per-view service, the monthly cost grows but it is surprisingly affordable. For basic channels (about 60 of them!) you can plan on paying a low price of $30 - $50 per month. As you can see, legal cheap dish TV is still a much better price than cable. When a pirate company sells you cheap dish TV, they are talking about using a special equipment card to get all the channels free — and illegally. The problem is you have to go back to the free satellite guy to have your access card(s) reprogrammed every time the satellite signal is hashed, or scrambled. The two providers “hash” the pirate cards with their satellite signal on a regular basis, and then the illegal cards must be reprogrammed. The cost can range up to $50 a month – more than what you would have paid as a regular legal subscriber. But here is the main problem: the major satellite providers sometimes hash the pirates 3 to 4 times a week! The moral of the story is, if you are looking for cheap dish TV, forget the illegal stuff and sign up with a regular satellite TV service provider who can offer you great service, free equipment and low prices.
