We were hooked up in no time at all.” Customers everywhere seem to agree that satellite installers are quick, competent and efficient. They need to be. These satellite installers contract out to the satellite TV companies, such as Dish Network or DirecTV. They are obligated to respond quickly to new satellite installation requests. This prompt service is part of the service package the satellite companies advertise. These companies often advertise free satellite TV systems and free installation as part of their promotional incentives to attract new customers. The satellite installers are usually the first and only person-to-person contact the company has with the customer. The companies count on these installers to be courteous as they make fast and trouble free installations. The satellite installers meet this challenge. Independent customer service polling companies, such as J.D. Power and Associates, consistently rank the service provided by these satellite installers above the service provided by cable and terrestrial broadcast companies. This is good news for the satellite companies and has contributed to these companies capturing a huge portion of the TV service market. One of the reasons satellite installers get such high marks is because they have a vested interest in satisfying the customer. Many of these people are independent contractors; they are small businessmen and women, working for themselves. The satellite television service company is their client, perhaps their only client.
