Make a Satellite Radio Comparison

When making a satellite radio comparison one of the first things you’ll want to check is the programming. Both satellite providers are currently offering around 130 channels, most of which are commercial-free music channels, and the rest covering news, sports and entertainment. There are a number of programs unique to each service and perhaps one or two in particular will catch your eye. Which ever one you choose after making a satellite radio comparison, you’ll likely stick with it, since subscribers who try an Xmradio or Sirius plan, tend to keep subscribing.

Your satellite radio comparison will need to include the cost of a subscription. Fortunately, both companies are low-priced: Sirius charges $12.95 per month while the larger XM runs $9.99 per month. You’ll need a special receiver to get satellite channels to come in but both companies are comparably priced in terms of equipment and numerous audio equipment manufactures have excellent models such as completely portable satellite radio receivers. If you’re about to buy a new car anyway, the choice for a satellite radio provider may be made for you, now that auto makers such as DaimlerChrysler, Ford, and BMW offer XM in their latest models. In 2004, General Motors began offering XM in 44 of its 57 models, or basically, most of it’s fleet.

Both providers have various formats on the different channels so that you’ll be receiving the best picks for country and western, rock, r & b, mix, classical and so on. Plus, you get a number of commercial channels like MSNBC and ESPN, and lots of original programming that’s unique to satellite radio. There’s no clear winner, even if you’ve heard the rumor that XM is for conservatives and Sirius is for liberals. Not true. Labels can’t be placed on these providers who offer such fully developed programming. If it makes your satellite radio comparison a bit more difficult, that’s a good thing.

Still, there are no negatives to speak of and the technology is the wave of the future for avid radio listeners. Be sure to check each company’s website for current specials on equipment, activation and subscription fees. It’s a very competitive market and you may save money if you take the time to make a thorough satellite radio comparison.
