Satellite TV Cards Are Convenient Access Device

“It was so easy,” my friend explained. “I just slipped the card into the receiver and the system was ready to operate. I was watching my favorite programs right away.” The card he was talking about was one of the satellite TV cards that give customers access to the programming they want. These satellite TV cards also make it convenient to change programming packages. You simply call the satellite TV service provider and they provide you with a new card giving you access to the desired satellite programming.

Satellite TV cards are wafer thin plastic cards. Actually, they are two thin pieces of plastic fused together with a microprocessor chip sandwiched in between. This chip tells the receiver which of the satellite signals it is to unscramble. This card also contains a portion of the key code that enables the receiver to function properly. Without the card for accessing the satellite television service, the TV receiver is simply a useless piece of electronic hardware.

The satellite TV cards are dual function security devices. First, they ensure viewers receive all of the programming for which they have paid. Second, they protect the company against non-subscribers gaining unauthorized access to the TV signal. By controlling signal breaches, these companies are able to hold monthly programming fees down for legitimate subscribers.

These small plastic cards are an ingenious development for pay TV. Special use satellite TV cards can be used to give additional bonus programming packages, one time event programming access and limited time promotional programming access. The surface of the card can also be printed with marketing messages. These cards can also be changed periodically to provide security for the subscriber base. All of the major satellite TV providers, such as the Dish Network and DirecTV  use these cards to provide programming access.
