The SIR-ALP1 SiriusConnect Satellite Radio Tuner utilizes SIRIUS’ next generation technology, and is compatible with any SIRIUS-ready headunits from manufacturers such as Alpine, Audiovox, Jensen and Kenwood. The new system combines a receiver with a translation device all in one unit, and is 43% smaller than current receivers. The SIR-ALP1 SiriusConnect receiver also utilizes SIRIUS’ next-generation chipset for improved performance, and is less costly for to produce. “The great advantage of this unit is its ability to interface with multiple in-dash radios that are SIRIUS-ready, through a specific brand translation device,” said Larry Pesce, Senior Vice President of Product Development and Strategic Planning for SIRIUS. “Plus, the SIR-ALP1 SiriusConnect has a unique pass-through feature that allows other audio components such as CD changers to be connected without additional break-out boxes. No other satellite radio provider can offer this.” The SIR-ALP1 SiriusConnect design combines a standard SIRIUS tuner with a translator that is specific to each brand of SIRIUS-ready in-dash radio. This eliminates the need for separate receivers for each brand, thereby simplifying the product development process, as well as lowering overall production costs. Future versions are expected to be compatible with non-SIRIUS ready in-dash radios. The SIR-ALP1 SiriusConnect will be packaged with an antenna for easy purchase and inventory management, and will be available beginning in September 2004. The unit retails for $79.99.
