TV Satellite Dish Revolutionizes TV Viewing

The DBS TV satellite dish has revolutionized TV viewing. In the early days of TV, stations erected towers and broadcast TV signals over the airwaves. These signals were limited to local geographic areas. Technology improved and TV broadcast companies were able to direct TV signals to satellites 22,000 miles above the earth. These satellites bounced the signals back so they could be picked up by a consumer’s TV satellite dish anywhere on earth. This was a big step forward.

The early TV satellite dish had some distinct disadvantages for most viewers. They were big, unattractive, clumsy and expensive. Many people did not have a place to locate them, did not want them in their yard or chose not to spend the hundreds or even thousands of dollars it took to buy them. TV viewers needed another solution.

Cable companies were formed. These companies invest in TV satellite dish technology that receives the TV signals from satellites and in turn transmits the signal to subscribers by means of special wiring. This process requires huge investments by the cable companies. This cost is borne by the subscribers. Cable TV is economically feasible only in areas of denser population with high numbers of cable subscribers. This means that people living in rural areas do not have access to cable TV.

Technology continues to improve and the newest advancement is direct broadcast satellite television service. This technology has shrunk the size of the TV satellite dish from 10 feet to 18 inches in diameter. Not only is the size of the TV satellite dish greatly reduced, the cost of the dish equipment has been slashed from thousands of dollars to nothing at all. Satellite TV providers such as Direct TV and Dish Network offer dishes and the equipment needed to hook up TVs in up to five rooms of your home for free. These dishes offer more benefits than the earlier dishes and none of the disadvantages. Best of all, they are free and available online to virtually everyone.
